So, how many salty dogs can join a crew in Sea of Thieves?

Well, buckle up because it’s not a straightforward answer and depends on the server. Unlike some other games where you’re crammed onto a ship with a set number of folks, Sea of Thieves offers a bit more flexibility. You can set sail with a crew of 1 to 4 pirates. That means you can have a lone wolf captain navigating the treacherous waters solo, a small but mighty duo coordinating sails and cannons, or a full-fledged pirate crew of four working together like a well-oiled bilge pump (which is essential, trust me!). Considering that a server can have a maximum of 5 crews, the maximum number is 20 pirates/players.

Exhilarating moments of shared laughter, defeat, and victory that players experience in Sea of Thieves.

Public and Private Sea of Thieves Server

Player pirates are (the human players) who make up these rambunctious crews who join together on various servers around the world. The servers can be either public or private. You can follow discussions about the SOT Private servers on their forum. Each pirate gets to choose their path on the high seas. Do they crave the thrill of the hunt, chasing down buried treasure and battling skeletons? Perhaps they’re more mercantile-minded, seeking to complete quests and trade their loot for a hefty profit. The beauty of Sea of Thieves is that it allows for emergent gameplay, meaning every interaction with another player is a wild card.

Solutions for Getting with Your Friends on the Same Sea of Thieves Server

Now, there are a few tutorials on YouTube, with various suggestions, like getting a VPN to change your location and others of this type. For more advanced computer gals and guys, there are some software solutions as well that may help you resolve some problems, solutions from fellow players like you. For example, this tool helps you find the Sea of Thieves server you’re on SOT-Server-Finder. This is a nice utility to help you get together with your friends on the same server, especially when you have friends that are not in your vicinity from the geographical point of view (that they will most likely be sent towards their nearest server, as this is the default behavior).

Where Can I Check If the Server Is Down?

If you encounter some problems related to the availability of a server, you may start your journey by checking first the Sea of Thieves System Status which displays the current state of their systems. These are public servers, so you should check this first only if you are using public servers. Your debugging will have plenty to benefit from checking this first before wasting many hours trying to find a problem that has nothing to do with you. It is not like their servers were never down, as they are sometimes (even if this is not a frequent recurrence). If you are on a private server, then you already have a friend who knows more than you — the person who set up the server — so ask him/her.

Where to Buy Sea of Thieves?

This is advice from a regular player, so it is worth noting that does not contain technical stuff but general, good-sense, advice. Knowing that the price tag is high for this game, even if it is not the acme of gaming (if there is such a thing), we should explore ways to buy Sea of Thieves without breaking the bank. If you are an avid game player who is happy to play multiple games over some time, or you finish games quickly — even if this one, because of the multiplayer, is virtually endless, then a subscription-based approach may work on Xbox. For $10 per month, you can play many games, including Sea of Thieves, but you will be hooked for at least 1 year on a subscription. If you hate the subscription model or you play games occasionally, you will be better off without a subscription, so try websites like G2A.
