Nioh 2 is an action role-playing video game (or action-RPG) long awaited by the fans of the genre. It is released by Koei Tecmo in Japan and Sony Interactive Entertainment for the rest of the world (internationally) on March 13, 2019. The game is a sequel of Nioh and it is created by the same development studio Team Ninja, a division of Koei Tecmo, known for Nioh, Dissidia Final Fantas and Dead or Alive franchises, and games like Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order or Fire Emblem Warriors.
The original Nioh was published in 2017 and was a great success. Both Nioh are ps4 games, they are not available on the rival Xbox console. It features an Irish samurai, called Willian, that find himself in a fictionalized Japan of the year 1600, fighting enemies, both human and supernatural beings called “yokai”. Now players may transform themselves in Yokai as well and make use of powerful paranormal powers. This because now, the main character controlled by players is a “shifter”, a being that may be either human or yokai, shifting between these states of being.
In the Japanese mythology, “yokai” is a kind of supernatural spook, something like a demon/ghost being. In the game, we pretty much use “yokai” to name everything that is non-human. It does not have necessary the negative connotation. It is a dark soul, hence the comparison with souls-like games like Sekiro or Dark Souls. However, among the new ps4 games, Nioh 2 stand out.
The ability of turning into a yokai is the main feature of the combat game. On this note, the “Amrita meter” is a central element. If your Amrita meter is full, you may transform into a yokai, otherwise it will not be possible. To fill the Amrita meter you should hurt the enemies in combat. This is the main way, as the other — using a Burst Counter move — ads just a very small amount. Nioh 2 is among the best ps4 games of this kind, an amazing sequel to the Nioh success, one that builds and improves on the previous game.
When you have a full Amrita meter it’s time to shift into the yokai mode, of course, when you are facing a powerful enemy, as this resource is limited and it goes fast. While in yokai mode you have access to different kind of attacks to hit the adversaries. You should use this power carefully, as you will need it when you’re facing big scary bosses. Also you should take care that you’ll have the power only for a short amount of time — your Amrita meter is going down very fast.
Nioh 2 do not innovate, but improves a lot on previous game of the series. It worth to buy cheap ps4 games like Nioh 2. Beautiful graphic, great story and excellent combat is what characterize this amazing video game. The combat is much more violent now, especially when players face a boss — the boss fight. It is not an easy game, it takes patience and time to master it, but Nioh 2 is rewarding and certainly worth it.
